Why local

Why Local Produce?

Norfolk produces an amazingly diverse range of food and drink, and we believe our produce reflects some of the best that Norfolk has to offer. Here are some of our favourite reasons for buying local...

  • The food hasn't travelled a great distance. That means no air miles and few food miles. The food is much fresher and we don't have to use preservatives.
  • You can engage with the food's story. Shopping at farmers' markets means you can meet the people who have brought you their produce: talk to them about how it was grown and made, and hear the passion they have for their produce.
  • Small-scale production means that we can create unique and exciting ranges of produce, and use traditional techniques, such as hand-raising pork pies, that yield fantastic results.

To find out more about the joys of local produce and farmers' markets, take a look at the Slow Food Movement and City & Country Farmers' Markets.
